I seen today that Merle Haggard is having a birthday today. 4/6/00 he is rumored to be 63. I wish him many, many more as he is one of my favorite singers.

Big City is one of my favorite albums and also a live one that gets played on a regular basis.

Our Good Friend Redd; that plays lead guitar for Merle, stopped in Tues. and picked with us and he will be out tonight also at Ginnys little Longhorn. I made a point in asking Redd how Merle is doing and touring and Redd told me; better than ever. They are having a blast out there and Merle is in great health and spirits and does not forsee slowing that down at all.
Just a little info on the "Man the Myth; the LEGEND".

63 is correct. According to both of his books, he was born April 6, 1937.

I dread the days when Merle and Arnold Palmer "hang it up". There's just something about these legends that makes me cheer their every move. (Golf used to be my favorite obsession.)

Our local classic country station has been celebrating Merle's birthday all day by playing three in a row every hour. We've heard some good cuts today, Happy Birthday Merle!
