What did we do to deserve another dose of B.J. Thomas? Now I suppose Leroy's coming back too? Thanks Mr. Fisher! Kyle R. {gone fishin}

the live portain was decent dispite the lack of steel.

However on backstage there was a side feature on Larry Cordell who seems very passenent aboutthe changes in Country music.

Congrats to Earl Scruggs on 50 years of Foggy Mountain Breakdown.

I don't know how anyone can call what ever that was that Holly Dunn did good and who in h--- needs BJ Thomas on the GOO Johnny Russel was fine as always And maybe next we can have TW playing guitar or Fiddle the spoons. To bad they have to use a great steel player that way I'm sure there are 20 Dobro players who would be glad to fill the bill. Oh well I guess thats what happens when you have people calling the shots that have no idea what day it is little lone what music there playing and it wpould hurt to tone down the Da-- drummer
[This message was edited by Bill cole on 25 March 2000 at 06:32 PM.]

I enjoyed the opry tonight Image
Thommy was as smooth on the dobro as he is on steel, great job!
Holy Dunns bass player was quite out of tune?
BJ Thomas,, what a voice, the man is truly a legend.
Earl Sgruggs, another living legend Image
I think the camera people were a little mixed up at times Image
& Jhonny,, meet George,,they wont play his CDs either?? But they will make nice coffee cup costers next year!!!

Tommy White did a great job on Dobro - It shows his versatility - by not playing it like a "steel player".

Thank you for the kind words regarding my dobro playing. My wife Teresa is one of the camera operators on the Grand Ole Opry and she assures me that the mix-ups and missed shots are due to the director not hearing the songs before showtime. The cameras and operators are always in the correct and ready position to shoot the performing instrumentalist. Like everything at the Opry, the televised portion is unrehearsed and we are flying by the seat of our pants. Anyway, thanks again.

I am not saying what I heard on the Opry was bad, I am just saying that it was not the kind of music that made me an Opry fan.

TW wasn't on PSG but he was still the best part of the show.

The opry sucked as always but I disagree about TW being the best part of the show your wrong he was the only show but still wish his show was on the steel eveb tho he is a good dobro player but face it they put thim in left field on Act Naturally but Johnny Russell may not know if he's singing country or bluegrass anymore. The one thing he can be sure of his CD won't get played so he will have to sell a lot of them on the opry

Mr Cole: Reading all your negative posts on this forum is painful enough for me as is, but do you think that you could get a spell check program installed on your computer, Thanks. I think the GOO does a great job and
can't wait to be there this year.

God forbid, but could it be that Tommy enjoys playing the Dobro? I didn't get to watch, but I'm sure he did just fine. Tommy, keep up the good work and and whip that dobro out anytime you, or they, want.

Tommy is just as "awsome" on Dobro as he is on steel! Whereas a Dobro in my hands becomes a lethal weapon (or boat paddle?)ha
ha ha!! "GO GET 'EM, TOMMY!"
