It's really not that hard to find new artists that are playing real country music. They all seem to hail from Texas. Check out: Dale Watson featuring our good friend Ricky Davis, Wayne Hancock, who's new disc features a lap player named Jeremey Wakefield. The guy is awesome! Let's not forget The Derailers. Buck Owens rides again! Add to this list guys and gals. I'm sure ya'll know a few that fit the discription of Real Country.
Best Wishes,

Let's not forget the greatest of them all: Junior Brown! What a singer, what a
guitarist.. and last but certainly not least, what a steel guitarist, both pedal &
non-pedal. I have all his CD's; now I only wish I could see him live sometime.

SteveB...I went to your website. You guys have a country band without a steel? And your posting about it on a steel guitar website? Huh? I must of missed something here.

Jon Wayne Funeral sure dosen't have a steel player! haha If you have ever seen the Derailers (one of my favorite bands), they probably did not have a steel on stage with them either. Although my band often times performs with fiddle, but not steel, we also have 2 different steel players that play quite a few shows with us. Both of our studio CD's have some fine lap, dobro, and pedal steel playing on them. If you looked at my websight, and went to the photo gallery, then you may have seen a few pics that include dobro / lap steel player T-Roy Miller, who plays quite a few shows with us. In the band, I play upright, and electric bass. My own steel playing is far from being up to par to play with any band. I am very much a beginner on my MCI D-10. My original post was really meant to recognize the comedy of the Jon Wane Texas Funeral, but if a person is into Dale Watson, or the Derailers, they most likely could be into Eleven Hundred Springs.

Steve B,
I must of missed the steel on the cut I listened to. I guess I'm just really partial to lots of steel (wonder why). Good Luck with your band.

Well, I do need to update my website with some real audio of my latest studio album, but for now there is one song on my site where you can hear the steel pretty well called "Anywhere I'm loving you". After I update the site, I will make a post in "Events and anouncements", so that folks will go check it out....More related to this thread, I would like to add that in Dallas TX (and Ft Worth) in particular, there are several good live music venues where you can see good, real country (or "Americana") music.
