Gibson Mastertome E7th. study course.

Post by jerry allen »

When I was 16 years old, my dad bought me a 6 string Gibson lap guitar and also the "Gibson Mastertone Study Course." The course consisted of 48 lessons (over 300 pages) and was first printed in 1939. It was and probably is the most comprehensive study course ever produced featuring the note system for E7th. tuning.

Sorry to say, I let the first 12 lessons go with the guitar when I sold it in 1957. I have regreted that ever since.

Does anyone know where I can still get a copy of this course, perferably in mint condition?

I now have a DBL PSG Thomas with the two standard tunings on it, but would like to follow through and complete the note system study on the E7th. lap guitar. (If only for the challange of it since I recently bought a Sierra 8 string lap guitar.)

I've seen portions of this study course on eBay, but rarely the entire course. You'll have to do some looking around to find such a thing. Good luck.

I still have the entire Gibson Mastertone Course and it is in better than good condition. I would be willing to part with or share the course. I began using it around 1950. Interested? Gladt@msn.com
