The Crocker Museum of Art in Sacramento California is currently hosting the resophonic guitar exhibit "Loud and Clear: Resonator Guitars and the Dopyera Brothers' Legacy to American Music". It will be shown in the museum's Herold Gallery from April 20, 2000 through June 11, 2000.

I was lucky enough to attend the opening night last night. It featured performances by Pete Grant and Kathy Barwick playing Allen resophonic guitars made by Randy Allen, who was also present.

The exhibit features about 60 instruments, many from Bob Brozman's personal collection. The other main collector who graciously loaned out his instruments was Stan Werbin of Elderly Instruments. There are guitars, mandolins, balalaikas, and even a couple of lap steels. It's a great look at one of our favorite instruments. I highly recommend you take the time to check out this exhibit if you're anywhere near Sacramento. It's worth the drive!

I'll second that. Was also in the house last night. Sorry I did not get to meet you Brad. What a collection of instruments. Pete and Cathy were playing in the exhibit gallery before their stage set and were picking instruments off the walls to compare. What a treat to watch and hear that 10 string dobro.

Does anyone know if Loud and Clear will be traveling to the mid-atlantic states? Is there a tour schedule posted anywhere?

Will this exhibition be coming to Chicago? Is there a website for the exhibition itself?

According to the original site at the Erie Art Museum's web site, the exhibit will be travelling to Lancaster, Pennsylvania next. There don't appear to be any plans to exhibit this collection anywhere else in the USA at this time.
