Anybody need an upright bass?

Post by Jason Weaver »

Hello all,

As you know I am a bassist who is getting into steel. One instrument that I am having to sell is my upright bass. I bought it to pursue a degree in music education before I answered the call to ministry. Now that I am getting married, I need to free up some money and space in our new place.

It is a 2003 Meinel 3/4 bass. It has a solid spruce
top, maple back & sides, and ebony fretboard, nut, and
tailpiece. The bass is $3400 new and I also have had
the neck stripped, and added an adjustable bridge and
Pirastro Obligato strings.

I also have a super deluxe padded soft case that cost
$250, and a german bass bow that was $495.

Everything was bought from KC Strings in Kansas City,
and the finish stripping on the neck and new bridge
were also done by them.

I will also include a soft case for the bow, and a
couple cans of Pop's Bass Rosin.

The bass has only about 6 hours of play time on it,
and is in the exact same condition as when I bought
it. Actually, you could say it is better with the
extras I had them add. It is a brand new bass.

I really want $2400 for everything. But I will offer
it to the forum for $1999. All shipping, packaging,
and insurance will be the resposibility of the buyer.
I know a great freight company that I have used for
upright bass in the past. The will build a custom
crate for it and ship it themselves!

Thank you all in advance.

Jason, that sounds like a really nice bass. I am already bass-equipped, but I belong to an online bluegrass bass group somewhat like the forum. If you would like me to, I could forward your offer to that group. If interested, you can contact me on the email address I use for that group, root5bassman@yahoo.com.
