Has anyone figured out the intro to 'Blue Jade" as Buddy plays it on the "Live From Bell Cove" dvd? |

If the Bell Cove intro is the same as Buddy played on the original recording, here's how I do it:
(note: Each position on the steel lasts for one beat, let the strings ring throughout this whole sequence)
Pick strings 5+6, no pedals, 1st fret.
Slide up to 3rd fret, pedal B pressed.
Up to 4th fret, at the same time release pedal B and press pedal A.
Up to 8th fret, no pedals.
8th fret, press pedals A+B
Slide up to the 13th fret, at the same time release pedal B, but keep pedal A pressed.
Hold for one beat, then release pedal A.

On the original recording which was on the "Black Album" the song had a piano intro but on the dvd Buddy says that he had recently written a steel intro to give the song a new sound..... |

Blue Jade Intro
--Fadd9------Gm--F/A-—Bb------Csus4---F---
1-------|---|--------|----------------|------------|
2-------|---|--------|----------------|------------|
3-------|---|--------|----------------|------------|
4—-8~~~~|20*|--------|------------13~~|~13—20*~~10-|
5-8~~~~~|~~~|-1A~~4A~|~6~~9A~~13A~~~~~|~13---------|
6---8B~~|~~~|-1B~~4~~|~6~~9~~~13B~~~~~|~13---------|
7-------|---|--------|----------------|------------|
8-------|---|--------|----------------|------------|
9-------|---|--------|----------------|------------|
10------|---|--------|----------------|------------|
The first three notes are slightly separated. The * indicates a harmonic. the last harmonic is fingered at the 20th fret while your bar is at fret 13, then the bar lowered to fret 10.
I've heard Buddy play a few variations on this, but this is basically what he does on the Bell Cove video.
