Hey there
I´m a steelplayer from sweden with a question for you. Who built the first squreneck and when? Was it Weissenborn or....? Happy for your help.

I can't say for sure, but it appears as if the Weissenborn guitars in the early 1920's were one of the first squareneck guitars. There's a new book coming out soon devoted to the Weissenborn style guitars; perhaps that will have an answer to this question.

I've got a Chris Knutsen hollow-neck Hawaiian which Knutsen authority Dan Most says likely dates from 1914 or 1915. To the best of my knowledge, Knutsen clearly pre-dates Weissenborn for this style of instrument.

Wow, Thats weird, I always thought Knutson worked for and learned to build guitars from Herman Weissenborn....learn something new every day,
