I have recently added a 5&10th string whole tone lower to go with my 6th string whole tone lower. I have found several ways to use it but if anyone can show me a couple of the more popular ways to use it, it would be greatly appreciated. I just hate to waste good money. Thanks.

Here's my favorite Mike Johnson lick in C.
R- raises first string a whole tone
X- lowers 5,6 & 10 a whole tone
L- lowers one half tone

1----8R/8----------------
2------------------------
3--8---------------------
4----------8-------------
5-------------8/8X~~~~8
6------------------8X/8--

I've heard PF play something like this in his solo on Alan Jackson's Farewell Party. I don't remember the key he used so we'll do it in G.

4--8L----8L--------
5--8/8A--8/8X/8A---let all notes sustain.
6--8B----8/8X/8B---

If you listen to Paul playing it, it will make more sense.

Here's one more you'll hear alot. In G again.

4--3--------3-------
5--3A/3/3X--3/3A/3--
6--3B/3/3X--3/3B/3--

Hope this will help you.

Tony
