I grew up listening, singing, and dancing to Motown music, and, after watching the DVD "Standing in the Shadows of Motown", am ready to play some of those great tunes on steel. Has anyone done those songs he might be willing to share here? I'll try to put some up this summer when I've more time. steve

Yes, please let me know what you find or come up with.

One of my backburner projects is to go through James Brown's Live @ the Apollo 1962 and figure out all those lovely, dissonant horn parts for the steel.

The steel seems pretty well-suited for those POW-POW-POW funk horns.

Dwayne, I haven't even thought of James Brown but some of his stuff would be great. Mickd, I have a rudimetary version of "What Become of the Brokenhearted", one of my alltime favorites which I'd like to jazz up a bit. Here are a few I'm aiming to do: Smokey Robinson: Ooh Baby, Baby, More Love, Tracks of My Tears, You Really Got a Hold on Me, Tears of a Clown; 4 Tops: Standing in the Shadows of Love, Baby I Need Your Loving; Marvin Gaye: What's Going On; Hitchhike, How Sweet It Is to Be Loved by You; Tempatations: I'm Losing You, The Way You Do the Things You Do; Stevie Wonder: For Once in My Life, I Was Made to Love Her. Now here is what I predict: Mickd will have these all tabbed out within a week if not sooner. If you don't beelive me, go to his site and see what he's done already! :0 I hope to have at least half of these done over the summer. steve

Steve
that sounds like a challenge (one I'm not equal to ) - but I must admit I just dug out my old LP of 'With The Beatles' for their rendition of 'You Really Got A Hold On Me'..

mickd is just laying back and is most definitely up to the challenge. He has posted 52 tabs on his site, 27 of which are C6 and mostly jazz tinged tunes which are very well done. Here is the link:

Hi Steve

I am just listening to the Curly Chalker 'Counterpoint' CD and there is a real swinging version of 'For once in my life' on there.

Clive, yes have the Counterpoint album and know Curly's lovely rendition; also have the chord changes and they made me break out into a cold sweat! Care to take a crack at it? If not you, perhaps mickd?
