Mike Johnson played a terrific turn around on "I Never Go Around Mirrors" would anyone happen to have the tab for this turn around. It is on the new Daryl Singletary Cd "That's Why I Sing this Way"

Thanks for the info. I have a turn around that I use. Got it from an earlier version but I would like to see the tab on what Mike Johnson did. It was a great turn around

That turn around really is a good one. I have it figured out but not sure if i could tab it out. The way I have it figured and as with anything else could have it wrong. I'll try to explain what I do. On the 12th fret start at the 10th string no ped and press a ped then 9th string then 8th string then 7th string slide to 13th fret then 6th string on the 12th fret press b ped then 5th press A ped then 2nd string and then 4th string....use your B and C and you should be able to find the rest if you can hear the tones as you go up the neck. like I said I'm not much good at tabbing things out. Would be a whole lot easier for me to show you. But maybe this will start a fire and get someone to tab it. Maybe I'll sit down and try to tab it. Then put it on here again. Actually its pretty easy one you get into the song.

With some help from my brother, we finally got this song tabbed out. I'm not sure how to put tab on here so, not sure how to get it to you. Not very smart when it comes to computers.

Ricky I don't have it tabbed on the computer, I tried to follow the instructions but there must be something I'm not understanding because I just couldn't get it to work for. Then I had a couple people telling me about copyright infringements and got a little leary of it. Maybe you could enlighten me on that. I'm not sure about infringement because I would just be putting on here what I am hearing not anything that is copied anywhere, just what I hear in the run and have figured out for myself.

WEll Michael I'm not sure what you mean? I first of all don't see any problem with Copyright; cause your not copying anything that has been written or recorded.....your just tabbing out a piece of music.
Also; did you tab this part??? if so...where is the tab? On paper>on computer>?

Ricky I have it tabbed out on paper...Would like to put it on here since there are so many that would like to have it. Just not too smart when it comes to computers.

Well you have to write it on Notepad on your computer and send it to me in a e-mail; and I can then fix you up.

Who would have ever thought it would take a dozen posts to get a piece of tab on here. LOL. I'm putting it on notepad right now and I'll send it to you. Hopefully it will have been worth the wait for everyone. Sorry.

FINALLY! I finished the tab. Since Ricky is the computer whiz here, I e-mailed it to him to put in here. I know it is very close, there may be some little subtleties that you may want to add, but this is very close. I'm not perfect, close but not quite.LOL Anyway I hope I did a good enough job with it that you can play it and feel good about it. I know I do.

The first thing I noticed is the walk-up line.Sorry can't seem to do tab.But you might want to try it like this.Start at the 3rd fret play 6th string then slide to 5th fret.Then press pedal.Now play string 5 at the 5th fret. Then press pedal.Then with pedal down play the 5th string at frets 7,8,9,and 10.Now play strings 2,4,and 1 then raise the knee.You'll need to listen for notes picked and notes that he slides to. Hope this makes sense. ---------bb

Ricky: First of all; welcome back to the land of milk and money !! Good to have you back again......

I'm trying to figure out where I fell off the wagon ! What is rwt and lwt ?? Obviously some knee lever acronyms but I can't put words to them. Left something; right something !!

Regards, Paul Image Image Image

rwt = raise whole tone
lwt = lower whole tone

by Bobby Boggs
The LWT should be a R1/2T, or (Raised 1/2 tone).Actually it should be 2 R1/2 (then) 2 no pedals, and then 2 LWT.Or if you don't raise the 2nd a 1/2.Move up 1 fret play 4 lowered 1/2 then play string 2. Slide back to the 12th fret on string 2 and then lower it a full tone.

Hey Thanks for the Welcome back Paul.
Jim explained the rwt and lwt...good job Jimbo....that's how I figured it to be.
Also I didn't do this tab....Mike did....I just posted it for him.
I haven't even heard this solo yet....so I couldn't compare the tab with the solo.....
So ya'll are gunna have to hash it out.

Bobby you are right you can do it that way. I've tried starting it out that way. and even tried starting it on the 12th fret on the tenth string along with the things you suggested. It all seems to work, I guess its just a difference in ears and what one person hears and what another person hears. Like I said in earlier post there are probably some things that you might want to change as far voicings go with slides into the pedals and such to really bring out the sound and the feel of the tune.

Good point Michael. There is at least a half dozen ways to play those notes.The way I play it sounds more like the record to my ears.Sorry for any confusion I may have caused.And I promise not to post on the tab section till I'm able to do tab. Image -------bb

Bobby, no confusion here. I played around with the way you do it a little more and it started to sound better to me too. That was the way I worked it out the first time I was trying to figure it out and at that time it just didn't sound right to my ears but the more I play it the better it sounds to me when I compared it to the cd. Just little slides and such can change the whole mood and feeling of the song. And that is one thing good about playing with feeling rather than to copy someone elses work. Think I'm getting onto another subject there so better quit while I'm ahead. I've just never liked to copy someone elses work. I like to play what I hear and feel in the song for myself. But, when I heard this turnaround I just thought it was so good that I wanted to learn it so I could use some of those ideas and licks in other songs as well. Anyway like I said , its another subject that you could talk about for hours. Appreciate your input. Thanks
Mike
