Hello,

I'm a new member. I'd like a little help figuring out a riff - I hope I'm posting this in the right place. The riff is off the '12 Golden Country Greats' CD by Ween. Russ Hicks is the steel guitarist. It sounds like a complex chord with possibly some pull-offs in it. The song is "Help Me Scrape the Mucus off My Brain". (I think it's about a hangover.)

I realize not too many traditional steel players are likely to have this album, but the steel parts are really cool.

Any help appreciated.

A friend played me this album a couple of years ago. There is real solid steel playing by Mr. Hicks. Sorry, I don't have it and I can't help you with your inquiry.

That's a cover of the old Roy Acuff classic, isn't it?

hey-
sorry i don't know the riff either, BUT...

I did request this song when I saw Russ play in Knoxville a few years ago... talk about a double take! He wasn't expecting that.

"Those guys are CRAZY!!!" was his reply.

I just saw those guys the other night. High energy show, no steel though.

They do have a live album called 'Painting the Town Brown' which features Stu Basore on a few cuts. Good stuff!!!
