Such A Deal.....

A while back, I posted a tab of Lloyd Maines' steel solo in a Joe Ely song: 'Because of the Wind'. The tab works reasonably well, although I was told that this was not the way that Lloyd played it on the record. Despite some advice and direction, it still eludes me.

If anyone who is familiar with the song and the correct way to play it is willing to post some tab, I'll send them a new, unopened CD: Herb Steiner's 'Texas Bandstand Favorites', gratis. I really hate Herb's playing and I couldn't bring myself to open it!

Actually, I bought 2 copies by mistake - don't ask me how - and the first copy has spent A LOT of time in my truck CD player...It's really great!

So that's about it. Here's a link to my previous posted attempt:

The judges decision is final. If you know the tune and can come up with some good tab, please give it a shot.

Thanks.

Hey Steve I'm still out on tour right now; but I will tab the whole solo pal when I get home.
I know it well and I can almost do it without my steel with me; but to make sure I'm gunna have to wait to get home.

Hey Steve; I've started tabbing it already; but got called back to overdub more in studio. Than phone line is down at my house(I'm at my Dad's house right now).
I'll have the whole solo done tonight at my house but can't send it till the phone company comes out tomorrow sometime.
Should be up real soon right here pal; just hold out a little longer.
Sorry for the probs. And don't know when I can get back online just yet.

I wish I could, Jeff. I'm not 'wired for sound' on the PC. It's a really nice solo - some would almost say 'legendary'. The tab I wrote works, but like I said, if there's a better, smarter way to do it and to learn something in the process - that would be great.

I could part with the CD for a loaner if you're interested in hearing it. Let me know and I could box it up and ship it out (I've got all these handy dandy shipping boxes from buying Forum CDs.). If you're interested, e-mail me a note and I'll send it out.

Thanks,
Steve

We have a WINNER! Jeff Lampert sent me some tab yesterday that had some substantial improvements over my original. I did a little formatting, etc., on the tab and I'll have the final outcome posted in a day or so.

This is a beautiful solo, and the tab, I think, is very good.

Thanks to ALL for the interest and assistance.
[This message was edited by Steve Feldman on 04 December 2000 at 08:01 AM.]
