I didn't have my steel out, but I think this is it by ear. Key of E.

I think there's a little ending at the end of the intro that's something like this.....

Clip for this and tab by Jeff Lampert, as well as the steel break in online on Ricky and I's web site (1982 page)
Now, if somebody wants to tackle the break???
If so, send it to me on Notepad in an email and I will put it online. Credit will be given to the tabber.

Hey, why not. This is the studio version, not the live from London version. Beat count is on the 10th line. Each beat count is the first beat of the measure. Chords on line 1. Last 6 notes on the G,D,A chords are weak and sloppy in the recorded mix, so I just guessed them a bit. They aren't critical. The single note run in measures 5 and 6 could be played in various positions. Based on the notes that slide versus the ones that are picked, the tonality and flow of the notes, I think this is the way it was played. I'll e-mail it to Graham (Rebel) if it passes muster.

Bruce Bouton makes his living as a musician. He is selling his version of that steel part. It seems disrespectful to me to post that tab without asking Bruce's permission. Just like on the Rebel site when they took off the "Look at us" tab out of respect for John. John was also selling his own version of that steel part.
We ask the legends and pros to put the effort in to tabing out there work and then don't think twice about bypassing them just to save a buck.

Hey Bob point well taken here. Someone asked for this piece and Brother Jon did mention Bruce Bouton's site where they can optain the exact version of his intro and solo. It is up to us to respect wheather or not one decides to support the authors work by purchasing it; but I believe it to be Respectful if someone wants to play the part like the author, in the first place. Before I tab anything; I do try and find out if the originator has done the work for it and if for sale and Rebel and myself have decided to Respect that, and not offer it on top of their work. But in the same breath; I play(or try to)alot of solos and intros; just like my mentors, out of respect for their hard work and brilliant steel parts through the years; and they all are most flattered when we do try and replicate their history in recording; and most find it very Respectful that we pass those musical pieces around and even want to play them like they did in the first place.
So it is up to us to keep the tradition alive and respect our Mentors hard work; but I don't believe it to be DisRespectful to optain it how ever we can; and I think they are very flattered for us to play it.
I have spoken to Bruce several times and he is a wonderful person and believes this to be true; but I would always buy and support their work first and go from there>maybe a problem with ethics; but no harm done.

Ricky,
I understand your position and your point is well taken. Being a musician I am often treated like a cheap comodity by record labels, promoters, singers.. whatever. I'm a little testy about this and feel that at least musicians should treat other musicians with a bit of extra consideration and respect when it concerns there work.
Keep up the good work !

I am sure that is a general sentiment that no one could possibly disagree with. I also believe that this particular type of situation is open to debate, so that if any more comments are to be made about it, someone should open up a topic on one of the other Forums. I certainly hope there are no further postings on this thread with regard to this issue.I'm a little testy about this and feel that at least musicians should treat other musicians with a bit of extra consideration and respect when it concerns there work

Hey Jim don't feel bad pal; you wanted something and it was given to you in a couple of formats. Wheather one believes the access to optain something is Respectful; is directly the result of the information he has on the subject.
I agree with you Bob Hoffnar; I am also a musician that knows about getting the "Shaft" most the time on anything that is under consideration and I believe us musicians should stick together and be role models on at least Respecting one another.
So hopefully this side thread here is just a building of Knowledge that we all can use; which is the basis of this post in the first place.
Jeff your work here is admirable and you have been a great breath of freash air in your great tabbing and willingness to help in any way you can.
As moderator here; I don't see anything wrong with dicussing this subject right here in this area of where the subject of "tabbing" something has came up.
I believe this group of folks that frequent this area; to be of the highest of standards and it has to do with this subject and I don't see anything wrong with. What do ya'll think?

It is a valid point you bring up and so often true. The decision to remove the "Look At Us" tab was taken when I returned from the Knoxville show, where I talked with John Hughey. I had stopped at his booth to buy something and saw the tab for "Look At Us" for sale. I mentioned about it being on Ricky and I's site, not knowing John was selling it and he then told me it was the only tab he had there for sale. It was then I told him I would remove it, both out of respect for the great player and person he is and also for his right to make a living on his material. He has no problem with the other stuff on the site that Ricky has tabbed. I stated then and repeat it now, if ANY player does not want the tab for his material on our site, I will gladly remove it. So far, that has not happened, and to be honest with you, I hope it never does, not because I want to make a buck off somebody else (the site is 100% free)but because as a newcomer to pedal steel, I know what a valuable learning tool the site is, which is the whole reason for its existance.
I would also like to thank Ricky, Fred Amendola, Harold Bullard, Jeff, John and any others I may have forgotten who have contributed tab for this purpose.

Graham,
You're very welcome. I enjoy working out the tabs because it is a challenge, it helps players needing assistance, and it promotes the Tablature section of the Forum (which has looked very lean on occasion). I feel that the Tablature section is a vital part of the Forum, and I wish that many of the great players that I see posting elsewhere occasionally would peek in and see what's going on. Part of this promotion is to put as much interesting tab out there as we can, and hopefully we can continue to do this without stepping on anyone's toes (pedals?). While I'm at it, I would like to personally thank John Steele who has been putting his C6 thinking into the mix. It's hard to find accomplished C6er's, let alone ones willing to author professional tab. I hope he keeps doing it. The more interesting the tab, the better it is for everyone. And of course, Ricky. You'd have to go to load of loaded steel shows to find anyone as magnanimous and good-hearted as he is. .. Jeff

Well thanks for the kind words Jeff and Brother Graham. I feel the same way about all my brothers here in this area. I believe this to be an extrodinary feature in the Steel Guitar Forum and the basis of the Rebel and Ricky site is of the same inspiration and reason for the existance.
I really don't think we are steppin' on anyones toes; but Graham and I do use Bob Hoffnars' views on the subject as much as we can.
I have spoken to many of the greats; and one reason they don't frequent here; is they never learned how to write steel guitar tablature. That came after there learning and invention of the steel guitar and most stuff you see tabbed of their stuff is done by someone else.
I wish I had time to hire myself on to the John Hughey CD; cause I believe he really would like to offer tab for his stuff; but doesn't know how to do it.
Ya'll are the best and I truely respect and admire everyones work here and I have a huge smile on my face each day I get here and see what ya'll have done and worked on.
Ricky

I would hate to have a wife that was so ugly that no other person would look at her.
So How come no one is singing my stuff
But on a serious note, have'nt we been stealing lick's from almost the very day we first sat behind a steel.
I am quite sure John Huey has stole quite afew in his life time .
But, this is a differant kind of stealing.
For you see some are advanced in music and could play anything they hear, and need no tab or sheet music.
While other's not so advanced ,Still hear the sound but do'nt know how to grasp it.
As far as the sound of music ,Jerry Byrd ,has already along time ago, layed the pattern out that even you that protest free tab have already stole.
Now, I feel like if a song is worth STEELING then there must be some good stuff there that has preveiusly been stole before.
Let us thank God that we can hear and can STEEL.
Tho I may could play Look At Us I could never play to the same touch or feel that Mr. Huey had,Because after all that's his baby
I would like to end this by giveing Grayham and Rickey ,the honour they so truely deserve.
Im sure there are thousands of picker's and want to be picker's that they have helpedto the avance of the instrument we so dearly love.
And if we are all stealing from from the pattern that Mr Byrd layed out,and are supose to play and sound like Jerry Byrd How come no one is playing my tune's?
With all respect, Keep up the good work Grayham and Rickey Davis

So How come no one is singing my stuff
But on a serious note, have'nt we been stealing lick's from almost the very day we first sat behind a steel.
I am quite sure John Huey has stole quite afew in his life time .
But, this is a differant kind of stealing.
For you see some are advanced in music and could play anything they hear, and need no tab or sheet music.
While other's not so advanced ,Still hear the sound but do'nt know how to grasp it.
