D"to"C

Would anyone tab a few licks starting in D cord and moving to c cord. Is there a rule of thumb for this change? Thanks too all----rick

Here are three licks. All start on a D chord, and the last note of each lick resolves on a C chord. All licks are in even count eighth notes. The beat count and chords are on the 10th line.

The basic rule in going from one chord to another is to hit the V chord of the new chord. e.g. if you are going from D to C, generally it would be D, G (or G7) and then C, since G is the V chord of C.

One good example to listen to is the change from A to B in Randy Travis' 1982 (or is it 1984 CRS Image )

What to play on a D - C change depends upon what comes after the C and if it is slow/fast/Country/rock or what sets the mood of the song.
Here is one example D - C followed by G back to D
