Steve,
I heard the song and this is killer tabbing. Just curious, how do you pick up the notes? Do you record on tape and slow it down, or do you play at regular speed over and over and just "hear" the notes? When I figure out a solo, I do it on a CD player, and I often have to replay 3-6 note passages over and over to get them right, using the "repeat" feature on the CD player. Just wonderin' if you have a good technique figured out for doing this. Thanks .. Jeff

By the way, we tried to do the tab on the Paul Frankin solo in the Brent Mason instrumental call "Hot Wired". I started it out, but gave up on it after a few more attempts. Do you want to take a crack at it? I can e-mail you the .MP3 file for the song if you'd like. It would be great if you could take a stab at it. I bumped it up to the top of the Forum so you can check out the thread. What do you think? .. Jeff

Jeff .. I have a program called transkriber that I can record passages into and then slow them down incrementally without changing pitch. There's a freebee out there called cool edit that does the same thing.

I have the Brent Mason CD .. I've been avoiding getting started on that one .. Image .. but I guess it's time ... thanks for the compliments!

Steve,
I located Cool Edit, but it isn't free. You can download any one of several programs without a credit card, but you need their server to perform different transasctions having to do with audio, and I assume that unless you give them the credit card they ask for, their server will not accept your transactions. Maybe for simply slowing down an .MP3 file, it doesn't require their server, only the local downloaded program, so one wouldn't need to submit a credit card. I don't know. I looked over their info and saw nothing about this "slow-up" feature. Do you have any insight? Thanks .. Jeff

Jeff:
There is a free download version on their site of Cool Edit 2000, but it is limited to using only 2 funtions at a time and the "save" feature only works for 30 days.

If you pick #'s 1 and 3, it enables you to stretch out (slow down) a clip
