I hope you have the knee lever that raises the first string to G#. It is used in that solo.

You can pull string 1 up another 1/2 tone with your fingers behind the bar.
The turnaround after the first chorus in Tonight the Heartaches On Me makes use of the whole tone raise on string 1 (Key of F, fret 13). Raise string 1 with your knee lever and then pull it up another 1/2 tone with the fingers. This particular lick is heard a lot on country records these days. You need to pick string 3 and then string 1, bump your knee lever and at the same time pull string 1 up to the same note as string 3 (unison). It's a bit of a trick, but it's not impossible. I find myself using this move a lot now. That unison lick is also heard in the intro/turnaround on Alan Jackson's There Goes, and on a lot of other records.
On a short notice gig don't worry too much about copying licks exactly... just get the general feel.

That trick of pulling the first string with your bar hand is great. I have both the 1st string to G and G# (different levers) and still use this technique to pull the first string to G, probably more than the lever. It seems to be faster and have more "personality". Plus, it looks COOOOL.
I don't remember seeing Doug post before, but welcome aboard. This man has sooooo much to offer. I have seen some of his instructional material before and plan to purchase some here shortly.
Also, I would see if I could change your lever to pull to G#. Use the pull technique to get the G (don't work too good in the open position though ). I will probably remove mine and put something else in it's place.
