Does anyone have an absolutely accurate
tab of Together Again (break) exactly as played by Tom Brumley on the original cut?
I've learned it about 92% but there are
a couple of moves that are still frustrating
me.

Hey Rod; which 8% are you having difficulties with. I could tab the whole thing for you; but if it is just a small part, that would be easier. I have the CD and I would have to listen to it again; as I have already added my little twist to it; just like Tom told me too. He heard me play it once and said:"Hey Ricky, why would you want to play it just like the original recording; don't you have anything from yourself to add". I looked at him and said;"out of respect Tom"; and he looked back and said;" if your doing it out of respect for me; I would respect you more if you played it the way you felt it; as I did back then, and as I do now". Go figure.

(have not listened to it)

Thanks, Anders, but that's not quite
it.

Ricky: I agree it's good and fun to
depart from the original. I do it often,
sometimes because I have to for lack of
ability to transfer what I hear from
my ears to my hands and feet.

Together Again has been an enigma since I
first started steel about 6 years ago. I
have loved that steel work since I heard
Ralph Emery introduce it back in (?)'64.

Fooling around with it recently, I bent
the bar back to lower my 5th at that
crucial point easing off the A pedal to go
from IV to V and went nuts. "So that's it,"
I said to myself and headed to my shop to
fabricate a vertical lever to lower the
B's. That move got me from 82% accurate
to the 92% mentioned above.

I'm going to try to tab it myself the way
I do it and send it to you to edit if that's
possible. Thanks again for your offer to
help.

Anders thanks for posting a link to my transcription. I worked from the original recording to make that transcription. And, it turned out just like I was originally taught in 1970. Twice done, by two people, same result. rmason, what part isn't right? I'd like to know so I can improve my transcription.

The transcription is not my interpretation of the song.

Hey Rod; that will be fine. I have no problem checkin' out your tab. I have found it very rewarding to try and tab something I hear also; because as you are listening to it over and over; your ears really fine tune to what's goin' on. I found that after I have learned something and tab it out; after a while I go back; and almost everytime, I find something I was missin' or didn't pickup the first time. I think Peggys' tab is pretty dang close to right; I'll have to go listen to it again and look at her tab. But when she first posted it; I looked at her tab and listened to her sound file; and remembered saying to myself:"That's pretty dang good Peg". I'll check it out.

I bookmarked your page a couple of months ago
and remembered you had that song tabbed,
so it was easy to link to it.
I think your "players room" is a great idea,
even if the version is not 100% "correct" by
all ears it could be a valuable help and kickoff
for new players tryin to learn new songs.
Keep up the great work and keep new songs

Your mighty welcome Anders; and I also think Peggy's players area is wonderful. I had the pleasure of meeting Peg; when she was over here in the states from the orient; and she is equally nice as talented. Keep up the great work Peg; and there is alot of players getting alot out of your teaching; I for one play "Together Again" using the part you have on the second bar.
