The Forum instructions for preparing Tab in Windows "Notepad" are confusing to me. Can Tab be done on Excel, captured and tranferred to the Forum page? "Notepad" is a pain. How do you all do it? Is there an easier way?
Detail, please, computerese is Greek. I just want to be able to return some of the favors all of you have given to me in Share-a-Lick.
Thanks, Bud

Bud,
All you have to do to use notepad to write your tab is to size the tab to fit your text box. By that, I mean the text box included in the forum page. As far as drawing out a blank tab sheet, it can be done like this:
1.______________|
2.______________|
3.______________|
Use nos. and periods.
Hold shift and press dash line
Hold shift and press vertical dash. This key has a forward slash on the bottom.
Writing tab:
Use nos. to represent fret played; use capital letters to represent pedals played;
use ~~~~~ to represent slides or glisses, etc.
After your tab is written, just follow the forum directions to post.
Believe me, once you've written and posted tab a couple of times, you'll realize just how easy it is. I'll tell you one thing, the computer beats the hell out of writing it by hand!

I have an Excel spreadsheet for doing tab at
http://nightshift.net/exeltab.xls
It is not that great for exporting ASCII to post on the forum, but it is great for publishing.
If using Netscape, it will force a Save As to be a .doc file. Change that to .xls and it should work.
