Lonnie Hopper passes away on November 17,2024 at his home in Missouri. He was 89 years old. Lonnie Hopper played Banjo and Guitar and probably other instruments that I am unaware of. He played with Bill Monroe and his Bluegrass Boys. He was featured on at least twelve of Monroe's recordings. Lonnie Hopper and I had a long time mutual friend Dale Sledd also from Missouri. Dale was with Bobby and Sonny Osborne of the world famous Osborne Brothers Band. They played The Grand Ole Opry, Carnegie Hall and all over the world. I had the opportunity to play with Dale Sledd in a couple of bands and Recorded three different musical CD projects with him. He loved Steel Guitar and Buddy Emmons and Jerry Byrd were two of his favorite Steel Guitarists. RIP Lonnie Hopper and Dale Sledd.
