Hello! I'm new to the community and these instruments.
Looking to jump in with a 10-string lap steel.
Willing to drive a few hours to pick up, or pay for shipping.

Hi Matt
Just curious , since you are new to the instrument , why you are looking for a 10 string lapsteel . Which part of Ontario are you from ? I am in London .

Hi Jerry,
The additional chord options really appeal to me (I wish to explore jazz & other styles as well). I could start with a 6, but feel like I would want an 8 or 10 next year or so.
Your thoughts?

Can't offer any advice one way or the other , you seem to have an idea of where you want to go . I started with six strings , went to seven , then eight, and ended up with a D10 pedal steel within the space of six months. Good luck. Jerry

If you could find a 1st generation Sho~Bud Maverick at a reasonable price (IMHO under 1000) a guitar like that has been my go-to 10 string console non-pedal guitar for the last 10 years.

I've sold two off the bandstand at steel shows, in fact.

I remove the pedals from the pedal rack and remove the undercarriage for weight reduction. In original case its under 50 lbs and makes an excellent fly date/travel guitar.

Having been privileged to hear Mr. Steiner perform on his Maverick at the last Dallas show, I can bear witness that it sounds sweet and a great option.
