Trying to identify - any ideas?

Post by Ian Dane »

My New 10 String.... It appears to be a 'production run Guitar (mebbe japonese or European) 1960s/70s Unfortunately the Maker's Name plate has fallen off priorto mine or the seller's time

I know it has been modified to an active as it has some obvious 'later mods'. Please Note that the strings are in a released state (so comments about strings being wrongly placed are academic). the Machining on the Maple body are apparently from production machining as is the finish which is compleatly uniform..

It s my intention to keep so this info is purely for interest as I would like to keep, but have repaired the existing wiring unless it would be better to be upgraded. in which case suggestions welcome.

It's a 50s/60s Wyseaki with a Cyril Proctor hand wound pickup. A pro grade handmade steel when Imports were near impossible to get in UK

That's the length from nut to bridge? That would be beyond long, into the baritone range.
