I still get excited when I learn a new lick or progression. That is when I realize the value of a picker friend I can call early in the morning or late at night just to tell him of the new lick, chord, progression, song or whatever, I just learned.
Even after all the years of playing, I still feel like I just HAVE to share the excitement with someone who understands and won't think I am silly or crazy.
I guess only a musician understands. _________________ You can observe a lot just by looking |

Couldn't agree more. Forum member HowardR and I talk pretty much daily, sometimes multiple times in the day were we discuss guitars, picks, bars, music theory, music we are listening to and everything under the sun.
I'm grateful every day for that connection and camaraderie, especially as a retired senior who is no longer involved in the world of work and business and job related "colleagues" are no longer a part of my life.
One of the greatest blessings you can have and I have SGF to thank for it. _________________ Rose D13 tuning: Cabinet by J.R. Rose with mechanics engineered by Darvin Willhoite.

Bill, I hope I never lose the excitement of finally nailing that one little lick that I never seemed to fully get right. Of course then I need to tell someone. Sometimes that can be four in the morning. I'll call Mike and say , "listen to this".'
Of course, he does the same to me. There we are at four in the morning trading licks over the phone.
My wife as sweet as she is, will not tolerate being awakened at four in the morning to listen to a new lick on my guitar. _________________ You can observe a lot just by looking |

Bill,
I understand that so well. I've had those friends through the years. I don't have the nerve to wake my wife up at four in morning for anything.
