Square front LDG's
Hi David, hope all is well with you and yours.
I think it is "generally accepted" that the square LDG's started appearing in very late 1973. I'm sure Ricky could probably confirm this.

The Square fronts came out when the "THE PRO~II CUSTOM" came out; which is late '74. But those fingers look like the double raise/double lower fingers that Paul Sr. invented and were only used late '76 to starting 1978 when SuperPro came out and triple/double used. So what is the serial number on this LDG/SP Mark?? Paul Sr. did do their Special orders for sure and I'm not saying he didn't put double/double on a late '74 shobud right when "Custom" came out; but they only used double/single on the first Custom's; but again; Paul would do the special custom orders and this could be a VERY Rare one of a kind first square front with custom double/double made late '74???(that wouldn't go along with factory made shobuds at that time)(and of course "SP" meaning "Special Paint"; that is any kind of finish OTHER than endorsed "Emerald Green".)

Serial
Hi Ricky and folks! Thanks for the overwhelming interest in this guitar.
The serial says 1974.
Ricky actually dated the guitar for me a while back, based on the serial.
I will get some more pics in a few days as I am currently on the road.
I believe I have responded to all PM’s
If you have not recieved a message from me , please message again.

No Mark; the model number 6150 is what you asked me long ago what does "serial number 6150" date to...and 6150 as a serial dates Aug 1974; but that is NOT THE SERIAL; you have to show me the bottom of the guitar(you have no pics underneath) and then I can tell you the serial number Date. But without seeing anything underneath; I'm still going with late '76 to late '77 cause of the fingers I see on the pic from endplate...ah...ha..LOL.
So the serial number being 6150 is wrong.

Serial
Ricky, I sent you the serial.
There is a goofy “X” stamped on both the cast endplate and the wood underside of the guitar.
I had a Blue Lacquer Professional that also had this marking. It was a 1973 but had 1974 pro 2 bells and pullers.

Yes that is serial number 11797 and that was made March 1977.
Just like I said, those are very rare double raise/double lower fingers that Paul Franklin Sr made and they were only put on guitars from late 1976 to end of 1977.
The x at end of serial number means it was a custom order not like regular model.
