I've used exactly that for acoustic guitar. Sounds great to me. Naturally YMMV depending on guitar/pickup. But the MicroPro is so versatile I always seem to find something that works.

I've used a MicroPro 8 (first generation) for acoustic guitar, mandolin, and Dobro with good results. The 8" speaker is a Celestion high-wattage PA-type speaker that adds very little coloration, which is a good thing. Using channel one with the XLR input for the cleanest sound, channel two if you want more gain/drive options.
GFI Expo S-10PE, Sho-Bud 6139, Fender 2x8 Stringmaster, Supro consoles, Dobro. And more.
