Hi everyone. I have been busy working on the house and getting hay in as best as possible with the crazy wet summer we have been having. I was tedding hay and my mind wandered from the task at hand to thinking about my buddy Larry Sasser. Feeling somewhat melancholy about him being gone. Came across this video that friends and fans of Larry will appreciate. Don't be distracted by the beautiful blonde that appears with him! RIP Larry, you are missed by your friends.

Here's my favourite Larry Sasser clip: it's Glen Campbell - a giant in American music - doing a Jimmy Webb song that was never the hit it surely deserved to be.
Larry's part here is perfect; just pads in the third verse. Glen, as he rarely failed to do, gives full credit to the musicians behind him.
I wonder if this is the same Emmons that Larry's playing in the Mandrell video?

Thanks Guys. Yes, Larry has backed up the best in the business. I do like that playing behind Laney, but the stuff he does with Barbara is the stuff you don't hear much of these days, that classic 60s- 70s Nashville chicken picking stuff. Lloyd does a lot of that style on his albums from this era, really a great sound.

Larry was great at playing for the song. Another one was Lee Greenwood’s “Dixie Road” cut where he put the simplest A pedal squeeze licks in perfect spots.
I treasure getting to know him when he retired back to Atlanta. He would come hang out at our GaSGA events even when he wasn’t on the show. If only we could have gotten him out of his shell to talk a bit.
Those who knew Larry will get my comment

Fortunate to spend the day with Wimpy not long before he passed. He had brought a steel for Billy Knowles to work on and we hung out at the shop, went and had lunch and listened to his stories about his musical life. An outgoing, witty, down to earth good guy. One of my favorite steelers I have met
