No Nashville hick-town country stereotyping after that! Another dimension.

Penn Pennington is a multi-talented guy. Years ago I met him when he was band leader for Little Jimmy Dickens on a one nighter in Hollywood. I loaned them a piece of my gear and spent some time at soundcheck. Penn played this incredible recording for me and Jimmy couldn’t have been more gracious, modest and funny. A day to remember!

Penn wears many hats. He's a college-educated vocal arranger who arranges for sessions, sings, and arranges for church choirs. Penn's master guitar player who can play changes and read and write flyspeck. When I first met him, he was working for Jack Greene and had added steel to his toolbox. On that 90s and 00s edition of the Jolly Green Giants, Penn played guitar and sang the backup with the bass player, Mitch Walker. I learned later Mitch was a session piano player and backup singer. The steel guitarist was Doug Jernigan. The band's idea of rehearsing was to run "Four Brothers and "Cherokee" in the dressing room before their spot. "Burn while you earn."

You can hear all of Penn's talents are on
full display on the audio Craig Stock posted.
