Jeff Beck/Robert Randolph

I had the opportunity to be at the Jeff Beck Tribute Concert at the Royal Albert Hall for both performances. Eric Clapton put the show together and one of the featured performers was Robert Randolph, others included Imelda May, Derrick Trucks, Rod Stewart, Ron Wood, Billy Givens, Joss Stone, etc. Robert's performance soared and blew out any perceived boundaries for the PSG. He went from main steam blues to opera and could go from angels singing in harmony to moon rockets blasting off. I can't remember the last show I saw where I couldn't sleep at all because the music wouldn't leave my head. If you get a chance to see the Crossroads tour this fall don't miss it.

Rick, that had to be a concert to see. I'm sure you soaked it all in.

The solo RR played on Joss Stone's rendition of I Put A Spell On You was amazing. At first, I thought it was Billy Gibbons, who was on the stage.

There are a lot of elements of pedal steel in his sound
