Hi all, another Friday and time for another Pedal Steel Only arrangement! This week we're going back to the world of The Grateful Dead. I present the 24th arrangement in the playlist and my favorite song from "Garcia" Jerry's 1972 debut solo album, "To Lay Me Down".

While it's technically a Jerry Garcia solo song (and in fact he played all the instruments on that album except for drums provided by Bill Kreutzmann), a live version of the song was arranged by the Dead and appeared 64 times in their setlist over the years.

"To Lay Me Down" joins other Grateful Dead arrangements in the playlist including: "Ship of Fools", "Candyman", "Rosemary", "Mountains of the Moon", "Row Jimmy", "High Time" & "China Doll".

The playlist includes several pedal steel only arrangements of The Beatles such as: "Strawberry Fields Forever", "The Fool on the Hill", "Julia", "Across the Universe", "She's Leaving Home" and "Long, Long, Long".

In addition there are also arrangements of "Time Waits For No One", "Lady Jane" & "Wild Horses" by the Rolling Stones.

Other arrangements include, "A Whiter Shade of Pale" by Procol Harum, "Nights in White Satin" by The Moody Blues, "Starman" by David Bowie, "Good Advices" by REM, "White Rabbit" by the Jefferson Airplane, "The Crystal Ship" by The Doors & "Fat Old Sun" by Pink Floyd.

"To Lay Me Down" can be heard at:

All songs are arranged and performed on a 2019 Mullen G2 SD12 in extended D9.

Thanks for listening!

Thanks Duncan! I think it's one of Jerry's most beautiful songs and can see how it would be perfect for a wedding dance :)
