John David Call and theSteel Guitar Hall of Fame

Post by Dennis Ellerbee »

I don’t know if there will ever be a Steel Guitar Hall of Fame again, but if it starts again I think John David Call should be first on the list to be in. He has been playing on the road for over fifty years, and been an influence of a lot of steel players including myself. I have stolen many licks from him. He is still one heck of a player, and still performing with Pure Prairie League on the road today. He is a great guy. He deserves to be in.

I'm with you Dennis! I became a fan when the Two Lane Highway album came out. Pretty cool that he's still gigging with PPL after all these years.

I agree wholeheartedly. He was a big influence on me and still is to this day. He amazes me with his power of recall and just over all knowledge about things.
