Lefty Frizzell Demo question

Post by Daniel McKee »

On the big Bear Family box set they did on Lefty Frizzell there is a demo called "Believe me, its true" Its pretty rough in quality but its obviously a nice sounding song from what I can hear of it so my question is did Lefty ever record it for release or did any other artists, I ask mainly because Id love to hear or at least know all the lyrics to it.

I really don't know, but I will say this. If Bear Family did not make it part of that box set, I've got my doubts.

I did a fairly complete search and could find no evidence of that particular song ever being released by Lefty.

I appreciate the input on this. Lefty had some good demo material that survived through the years to be released by the Bear Family.

adding to the original question, does anyone know what year Abe Mulkey started to be with Lefty on recordings.

I have the Lefty Frizzel biography written by Daniel Cooper. There's a chronological discography at the end of the book:
Abe first seems to appear on a session recorded on October 16, 1964.
Here's a co-write with Lefty. He sings harmony vocals:
