Image I have two ElectroVoice 15L spkrs for sale. They are around 1980's-1990's era and excellent condition. I'll have pictures up soon. $100.00 each plus shipping. I need to lighten my load. These are 200w rms.

One time to the top. I'll hang onto them if no one can get any use out of them.

I stand corrected. After investigating recone kits for the 15L and 15B, The ribbed cones are 15L (lead guitar) speakers. Some bass players preferred the 15L over the 15B (bass speaker). The cone on the 15B speakers were smooth, heavier and more rigid. The ribbed cones (15L) more flexible. The EV on the left, I bought some years ago as a recone. The speaker on the right is an original and came from an Ampeg bass amp that was setting around for several years because the head quit working. The magnets are different because they came from different years. I assume the one with the heat diffuser is a newer model that was reconed? I've lowered the price to $100.00 plus shipping. They sell much higher on ebay.
Also, these are rated at 200w rms. One magnet shows 150w, which is incorrect.

Structurally, I don't know the specifications? ElectroVoice has been around for many decades and along with JBL have been the gold standard. The Peavey 1501 was built to handle more power to replace the JBL. Comparing the 1501 vs EV 15L, I know that the frequency graph of the 15L has a very smooth curve that enhances the mids. The 15L lows and highs seem nearly the same as the 1501. I found that I have to cut the mids on my amp a little more with the 15L speakers compared to the 1501. The magnet on the 1501 is heavier. The original advantage of the 1501 was the ability for the player to replace the basket himself as opposed to having down time to have the 15L re-coned by a pro shop. As the 1501's become used up and obsolete, the Eminence steel guitar speakers or the 15L would be my preference. There are 15L recone kits available and I see several kits and used 15L's on ebay. Even buying a blown 15L or 15b on ebay and reconing it to a 15L is a viable option. There are also 1501 aftermarket coil kits available to recone a 1501 basket. I don't know whats in the kit? I assume the coil, glue, shim and aluminum dust cover? The 15L and 15B kits also includes the paper cone, so all you need is the speaker frame and magnet to complete the speaker. Lots of options.
