Hi Folks,
I wanted to share this video because it was so ground breaking for me. But for most people it will sound pretty ordinary.
I had been playing the steel for some years and it was getting harder and harder. I was trying to force this Fender D8 to sound like a C6 pedal player or a horn. I was fighting it! I needed to change SOMETHING. But what?
I then heard a player from out in Texas by the name of Rose Sinclair. Something "clicked" in my mind and it dawned on me that what was needed was to stop fighting with the instrument and just let it sound like a steel. That's the sound I fell in love with in the first place!
Some time later, 2 weeks or so, I heard something different come out of me I didn't know was there.
It came out in this video. I learned practice is great and exploration is a must, but if I insist on fighting with the instrument that it will win every time!!!

Really nice, Rich! Great playing. That's some good advice as well. One of the best at making lap steel sound like a horn,in my opinion, was Bob Dunn. Rose is a super player too. Ain't steel guitar fun! Cool
