Hi lapsteelers,
At first a regular quiet song for me from my youth ...
Here in Europe it was another hitsingle by Cliff Richard in 1962. But I just recently heard the original by Peggy Lee singing words by Don Raye.
And then I found out the song appears to be much older.
It was written as "Go 'Way from my Window" in 1908 by the remarkable John Jacob Niles, singing with a high falsetto voice, playing his appalachian dulcimer.
It's on YouTube, watch and listen!
For my tablature I followed the later version. In fact it's a ballad with some modulation, G to G# to A.
The tricky thing is to realize where your notes are, when you go one step up!
Some variation in the written down lines now, but once it's in your fingers, feel free to vary!
