Although I've written a great deal about how I built my own guitar, and posted endless photos, I've been struggling to find video evidence. But at last I've located a clip of me playing along to a tune from the D lever section of Jeff Newman's Up From The Top course.

It's from five years ago and my playing was still a bit pumpy, but I think it shows that I had a working guitar with an unspectacular but reasonably pleasant tone. Here's a Google link :-

Well, it sounds like a pedal steel, Ian :)

It's actually quite an accomplishment to build your own instrument!

Nice work Ian. You have done what many cannot do. You build your own steel and then play it so nicely. Bravo! Carry on Ian!

That is a great feeling when you build your first Steel Guitar, When the strings go on, And tune and adjust things, And it plays like it should. Gives a man a warm feeling.
Great building and and sounds good too.

Thanks, Bobby - it's possibly the most satisfying thing I've done.

The original project was to record Steel Guitar Rag on a steel guitar I'd built myself, so I must do that before I dismantle it.

(As I've mentioned elsewhere, I don't use it any more and I have nowhere to keep it.)
