Looking for a Starter Pedal Steel
Posted: 30 Sep 2022 8:48 am
Hello fellow pickers,
I'm getting the itch to enter the pedal steel realm and therfore looking for an instrument to start out with.
I really like the Stage One guitars and I may give those guys a call when they start building later this year, but I would consider any decent 10 string with 3 pedals and a knee lever or two.
I'm also a tinker'er / woodworker that's done some musical instrument restorations; an antique upright piano, several electric guitars, to name a few.
So I would aslo be interested in an appealing "project" Perhaps an instrument that needs to be put together, TLC, etc, etc,
I have a few guitars I may consider for trade as well as a Melbert TrueTone lapsteel that I really enjoy playing. It's a discontinued model, 8 string, 2-pickup solid maple lapsteel with a scale length of 23-1/4"
The neck pickup is a Bill Lawrence 705 and the bridge pickup is a Wallace True Tone single coil.
I live in California not too far from b0b so I realize shipping may be an issue for the fellas back east where many a beautiful pedal steel abounds!
Thank you for any consideration you would offer an old newbie. True it's California, but I like to think of it as the "Land of Buck Owens"
Fare thee well,
David Burns
