I've never realized you can get various 1 4 5 combos with just the B pedal on Strings 3 and 4 (and other harmonized scales involving string 3 or 6). I then realized that all the harmonies in a major scale fit in a 1 4 or 5 (or dominant 5). Thinking of the neck this way has really helped me feel anchored when playing two notes.

The C pedal is there for a reason! I'm sure I don't exploit it to the full. I blame the (relatively) new-fangled F lever for usurping some of its function.

Ian - I too have avoided it too long. It's very useful here.

You can avoid the C pedal here by simply substituting the positions where the C pedal is used playing up one fret with only the F lever engaged. However, you lose the ease of leaving the bar in one spot to get sweet guiding tones changing chords.
