A new look at the Shaggs !

Post by Bob Hoffnar »

This album just came out that I produced and arranged. It's an instrumental version of the first Shaggs album.
Super fun project !

It's only on bandcamp because of royalty issues with streaming services.

Wow, you really made the Shaggs sound good. Amazing how something so bad could inspire so many people. Good job.

I gotta say after spending some time with there music I developed a respect for the Shaggs. There is some real craft going on and after all is said and done the music is deeply evocative. I was careful to leave out all cheap shot irony while arranging the instrumental stuff.

Their drummer was on a planet of her own. Be hard to mimic those crazy rhythms.

I've been a fan of this for decades-thought I was the only one. I really enjoy torturing my kids to it.

These are great renditions and love the trombone playing.

Wow….Bob! The Shaggs occupy their own category in the musical world. That’s a nice feather in your cap. Remember…you and I met in NYC a couple times in the 80s?

Kevin, always good to see your name ! You had some great steady dobro gig back then if I remember right.
