Goodbye to Micky Byrne
Have been informed that Micky Byrne passed away today after a long illness. Over 20 years ago, Micky was the recipient of a heart in a transplant operation.
He had been in Carolyne House Nursing Home, Grays in Middlesex, England. RIP old friend.

Micky certainly had some terrible challenges in his life. Not just the heart transplant, but a huge impact on his life was a fire that broke out in his conservatory. He left some tea candles alight when he went off on a gig, and his two beloved standard poodles knocked some over and perished in the ensuing fire. He broke down in tears when he told me of this harrowing story about 20 years ago when we met up. His dogs were precious to him, as was his Sho~Bud psg that was badly scorched in the fire.
Micky wasn't dealt a great hand in life generally, but he was quite a happy guy in the main.

Oh no, I'm very sad to hear this news. I never met Mickey but I knew how precious life was to him - he never took it for granted - at least not after his transplant, and he celebrated every milestone. I, and I know a lot of you also, cheered him on all the way. I had hoped he'd be around for as long as the rest of us. My deep condolences to his family and loved ones. Very sad indeed.

Sorry to hear this... Mickey was one of those guys you looked forward to reading what he had to say on many things. Always seems so knowledgable, and will be missed.

Very sad to hear this Ken, and thanks for the heads up a little while back about his health taking a turn for the worse... explaining why I hadn't heard from him in a while.
Micky and I had fairly regular contact over the years, I guess we shared a similar sense of humour (somewhat black)... so it is with great sadness that he has left us.
As many have said he had a fairly bad run with his health, and a heart transplant is about as major as it gets, but he didn't let that hold him back too much.
Unknown to a lot of people, he was also an actor and had many a part in UK based television programmes -- usually as the bad guy muscle for hire type hehe !! He was also in to karate so could actually take care of himself fairly well.
RIP old mate -- see you on the other side.
