Interview with Kevin Jones

My first time to meet Kevin was at last years {2021} OSGA
convention , both as a guest Steel player and also as a
member of the staff band, playing a hot Telecaster guitar.
In addition to his prowess on steel , he brought along his
wife Chasity who 'blew the doors' off classic songs like
Apartment #9.

I learned that Kevin's ability started early in life, playing
for his Dad's band which led to Lake of the Ozarks show.
All the while he was listening to and being influenced by
Lloyd Green, someone who's been an inspiration to several
other players I've interviewed.. Having first appeared in
im person on a Fender. Enter Bruce Zumsteg , master builder
of the Zum steel, a highly regarded and recognized guitar.

It was time for father and son to make a trip to Raytown ,
Mo. Due to production restraints , it was going to be a
long wait for a new Zum . At that point Bruce remembered
a guitar in the back room made of parts from Jeff Newman's
old Red, White, and Blue guitar and a deal was consummated
and that initiated his journey and love affair with the
pedal steel .

Although it isn't part of my notes , I think I remember
that Kevin taught school and also in the real estate
business. For 30 years he has played the Northtown Opry,
both on steel and lead guitar.....he and Chasity are a
power couple and bring tremendous talent to the stage .
You can meet and greet them at Saint James Presbyterian
church on June 24 & 25 in beautiful Jenks, Ok during the
OSGA annual convention .

Kevin is just a talented man period and a great guy as well. His wife Chasity can sing and adds so much to their set. I look forward to hearing them again.

Absolutely a power couple. Kevin is a fine player on both instruments and Chasity wowed us with her phenomenal performance. I consider this a high point in the show, which is already packed with talent.

I played in Byron Jones' Ferris Opry in Richmond Mo. That was before the Northtown Opry.

(I used to live in Kansas City, north).

Chasity and Kevin are first class. And he makes all of sound better on our sets.
