Paul King interview

Here is the story on Paul King from Gainesville , Tx.
We jokingly refer to each other as cousins but in
truth , he has been a very loyal member of OSGA and
plated our show for several years. Paul is a finesse
player and consistently gets the best tone out of his
Emmons {black of course}. I first met him when we were
at the Radisson by the Tulsa airport and formed a
brotherhood bond that has existed from that day
forward .

He started at age 19 on a BMI, later made his way thru
MSA and Mullen but the tone on his Emmons captured his
heart and his ear . For the last 15 years he has played
with an awesome gospel group , THE VESSELS . Prior to that,
he traveled with award winning MANUEL FAMILY band , also
playing gospel music. During that time he caught the eye
of Tonya his wife of 29 years . In recent years he was named
Steel Guitar Player of The Year by the TSGA {Texas}

Every Saturday found him glued to the tube to watch and be
influenced by Junior Knight and later by Rugg, Myrick,
Hughey and of course the Big E. Paul is currently involved
with several regional steel clubs and for the last few
years, at the invitation of Chaplain Richard Ingley , has
been on steel for the Sunday morning church service at the
Texas show.

If you like excellent steel playing with tone to the bone ,
be sure you're in Jenks to hear Paul "rooster" King , my
brother in the Lord.

b0b notes: Paul King will be performing at the OSGA show in Jenk, OK, on June 24, 2022.

Thank you Larry for that article. I consider it a high honor to be invited to play any steel show or club meeting. I love the fellowship and friendship steel guitar has brought me. Looking back down through the years I do not know what I would have done without it. Of course having a โ€œRoosterโ€ for a friend is an added blessing. When all the King boys get together you never know what will happen. I look forward to being at the Oklahoma Show again this year. Thank you Joe for your kind words.

I first became aware of Paul from his YouTube channel and subscribed immediately. Paul has supplied endless hours of 1st rate video that I find myself watching every evening. I got to meet Paul last year at the Oklahoma show and found him to be a warm and friendly man. If you watch him play you will notice how sincere and dedicated he is to the craft. Paul will not disappoint the listening crowd, and his tone is stellar. I'm honored to consider Paul a friend and look forward to seeing him perform at the show.
