Assistance needed; Dating an Epiphone lap steel.

Both parents have given their approval, how should I proceed? Sorry, don't know where that came from. Back to business. I recently acquired an Epiphone Electar Century with serial number 3800. Anyone know what year that represents? Thanks, Craig.
