Crossroads Music, Prospect Heights, Illinois 1990's, ???

Post by Michael Lee Allen »

Found a small advert from an unknown music publication, ink dated in the corner 1997. Crossroads Music, 5 South Wolf Road, Prospect Heights IL 60070. The address is in a small strip mall and is just north of Des Plaines and south of the old Randhurst Shopping Center. Advert states that they were a Carter, Zum, and Goodrich dealer, plus Dobro and Gibson acoustics, "good selection of new and used pedal steel guitars!".

Anybody in the area remember anything about this place, like who owned it or how long it lasted? My guitar tech remembers it being open for a pretty short time and a few other locals have asked me about it. I was either in California at the time or moving one way or the other so I missed it altogether.

Stopped by there once around that time period. All I remember is the owner was 40-ish, had a short black beard and there was a beautiful two-tone Carter D-10 on the floor.
