I measured (in-circuit) the DC resistance of my '72 6139 pickup and got these DC resistance values: 21k & 12k on the tap. Are these within range?
Nothing is wrong with the sound; I was just curious with how Sho-Bud wound them.
Any 3rd party pickup replacements that also have the tap on them?
Thanks! _________________ Tony

That seems to me possibly rewound...as original Sho~bud pickup were never really over the 19,000 range and 10,000 on coil tap "red split coil wire".
And yes; since my friend Jerry Wallace passed away; I go for the best sounding originally wound by Becky and Shannon Lawrence; after Bill Lawrence passed; they have their own company (NOT BILL LAWRENCE . com); so here is the new 710 WITH coil tap..and I have one in my LDG now and it is best pickup I've ever had and heard(and I had originally wound by Harry Jackson pickup and I've restored hundreds of Shobuds in the past 28 years with every pickup known to man-kind)>

Get the 710 Narrow mount...as that pic shows the 12 string '"712".

My Shobud Pro 2 pickups are 20.5K and 24K for E9 and C6.
Neither are tapped unless the wire is hidden from view and tucked under the pickup.. I suspect they are replacements or rewinds b/c there are faint signs there was once a Mini-toggle installed for the coil tap.
Because higher impedance pickups produce more mids I suspect these were designed to play with a scooped out Fender BF amp. |
