Fender 1000 sound cuts out

Hello,

my ´64 Fender 1000 has developed a problem after being in storage in its case for a few weeks.

When I press the C pedal, the sound cuts out. Very strange, as no wiring is touching anything mechanical.

I am thinking of a grounding issue. Has anyone ever experienced something similar?

Hi Fredrik, I’m the OP in the thread Michael Sawyer linked. Should’ve posted an update! I did exactly what Donny suggested, and rotated my whole output jack about a quarter turn. Seemed to do the trick, it hasn’t been cutting out since.

First thing to check is to see if it happens on both necks... If so, its most likely a ground, and first thing to look at is the female jack on the guitar, for looseness, corrosion etc.. If it only happens on one neck and not the other, its either the pickup or the wiring...

I rotated the input jack, and now everything is back to normal. Many thanks!!

I bought the guitar here at the forum. It was corroded and the mechanism was frozen. I took it apart, cleaned everythng with degreaser and lubed it with teflon, as suggested here. Copedent is Ralph Mooney style E9 + C6/B6.

It is my only pedal steel, and I have learned to play on it. I think it sounds great, it sits well in the mix of a band.
