About five years ago they were still having get-togethers. I worked every Sunday and could not attend because they always met on Sundays. I have not heard anything since, either.

My favorite steel show was the gospel one held in Indianapolis. It was put on by Doug Rolfe.
That was discontinued some years ago. Very Happy

I have some good memories of Indianapolis.
Doug Rolfe would sponsor some gospel steel guitars shows there.
I attended quite a few and he would really bring in some talent.
I miss both the shows AND Doug Rolfe.

We had a really fun time yesterday. Played a lot of good music and had a good day of camaraderie. Jerry Fessenden may disagree because he was the target of a couple pranks but it was all in fun and we had a great time! Our annual steel show will be June 5th with special guest Mike Sweeney, The Lloyd Wood Show, Dave Jackson, Sharon Denny, Jerry Fessenden, myself and many more. Plan now to come out and join us. The Indy Steel Guitar Club is alive and well. We had a young gentleman show up yesterday who sang a good song and is completely smitten with the steel guitar. He’s ready to take the plunge and jump in with the rest of us! Hope to see you all on June 5th. More details to come.

I used to be in the Indy Steel Club. I remember seeing a lot of guest steel players perform at the meetings.. Lloyd Green, Larry Sasser, John Hughey are the ones that come to mind.
A lot of very nice folks are in that club. I miss that.

The Indy Steel Guitar Club is run completely "under the radar" - like a secret society. Laughing There is no reach-out to former members who may have had their membership lapse (to try and recapture them) and - since I never know when the meetings are, I can't go to renew my membership. I never get a postcard - and there isn't so much as even an e-mail list, as far as I know. I used to actually play the annual show and still have no clue when the get-togethers are.

I've offered in the past to help. Most recently, at the last meeting I attended (last year or the year prior) I suggested I manage the FB page/social media and promote things better - which those in attendance were agreeable to. The club's FB page has been dormant for *years*. My attempts to help then just went nowhere and, despite my suggestions and attempt to fix things....I was then met with silence.

The club is seemingly content to just keep quarterly get-togethers to no more than 8 people each time. Former club president Jack Shrader (RIP) would reminisce how, in the '70s/'80s, there would be dozens (sometimes over a hundred) folks in attendance at a meeting. Scotty was a regular....as was Don Curtis....in the '00s (when I joined), there were always about 20 folks with steel in hand to play and jam, plus their spouses and a handful of people that really just enjoyed listening to steel guitar music and knew about these meetings/jams.

I know more about when various clubs in Illinois, Ohio, Kentucky and Tennessee are meeting than the club that meets 15 minutes from my house. Confused
