Been on a Dicky Overbey kick of late. What a sound.
Anyone know what his set up on E9 was? I'd love to see a chart if its around...
Another thing I'm wondering about is his C6 playing.... I haven't heard any of it, that I'm aware of.... Any links or info appreciated.

One of the most under-rated masters of all time. From what I could learn:
Pedals 1,2,3 standard Emmons changes. LKL raised string 7, F# to G. RKL raised the top F# to G/G# and lowered the D# to D/C#. RKR lowered both E's to Eb.
He also had a split tuning on his 6th string. From Ricky Davis:
"Then with no pedal down,Tune G# to F# on the raise rod barrel tuner.
(also; YES, there is a half stop barrel tuner underneath for that 1st and 2nd string change on the RKL...that was something I've ONLY seen Dicky ever do; nobody else did...OOOOH and the secret way only I know how to do to get a "WOUND" 6th string to lower a whole tone from a raised note(Ed Fulawka taught me)...ah..ha...)so yes I can't tell anyone how I do that or I will have to kill somebody...ha..."
Last part from Ricky Davis on an earlier post. Thanks!

Yes, I set up all of Dicky's steels when he was alive and a little treat he loved, of setting up his barrel tuning LDG with a wound 6th string being able to lower a whole tone, split tune. This is the copedant sheet picture of that and "CALEB" is my step son and his Step-Grandson; which is now carrying along Dicky's playing passion and pedal steel guitars.

Well that's very illuminating, thanks fellas.
I can definitely hear that string one G# raise in a lot of his phrasing, and was indeed wondering if that change moved string two as well. My guess was it didn't, so I appreciate the clarification. Interesting about the wound 6th....
Still wondering, did Dickey ever play much C6?

Yes Dicky played C6 many times when he was playing with Jake Hooker many years before he played his last several years with his Step Daughter Amber Digby. Here is Caleb playing with his Step-mom Amber on that very Pedal Steel Dicky called "blondie">

Then here's my step song-Caleb Playing with his Mom "Miss Leslie"(My Ex-wife) on a song called "Pretty Girl" a song I cut on Leslie's album. You would think he would play it like I did; but he played it the way Grandpa Dicky would have...I was sooooo proud to hear Caleb.

Great stuff Ricky. Thanks for sharing. Sounds and looks like Caleb has a thoughtful approach to steel. A great player in the making!
