Steel Player on an old song?

Post by manny escobar »

Many years ago I was told that the song "Big Marmoo" had a young man on steel. Who sang it and who was the kid on steel?

One hot version of BM was Frenchy Burke with Robbie Springfield on steel and Randy Corner on lead guitar. Really amazing playing !

Jim Loessberg with Don Wallace is pretty hot stuff on that tune.

John is correct. Robbie was a regular at the Ozark OSGA in Branson MO. for a number of years. He still had the fire in his playing.

I think I remember being told Robbie was like only 15 years old when they recorded that. J.R.

That record almost made me quit! Couldn't fathom how that solo was played so fast and so clean. I'd never heard of pick blocking/finger blocking at that point, what was that, 1974 or so?
