Here’s my other creation. I made the cabinet out of 5/8” plywood. Very light but sturdy using strips of 1/2 X 2” molding inside. It’s got the 15” Eminence 4-ohm speaker. Nice amp, weight is 27 lbs--lighter than my cube 80.

Previously the amp was two components with the amp in one box, speaker in another connected via a cable. Easy to carry but a chore to plug in and unplug. Now it’s one unit—no worrying about finding the speaker cord and power cord. It’s light enough so moving it is pretty easy. And about half the weight of a Fender Twin or Peavey Session. |

John, Looks like you and I are on the same page.
I built the cabinet, 1/2" Birch Plywood, 1 1/2" finger corners, Ringed shank Boat nails and 3/4" X 3/4" corner braces. The speaker is a Eminence EPS-15C. Quilter Tone Block 202.
I put Travis Toy's settings in the 202, My GFI S12U Ultra sounds great on all strings.
I originally built the cabinet for an onboard amp.

I mounted my Quilter in a Peavey special cabinet with 12" TT speaker.

Nice work guys. I've owned lots of amps but I think the Quilter is a keeper. Shouldn't amps evolve to lighter and cleaner after 70+ years? I know what I need after my 70+ years . |
