Hey Gang,
I have a 70s MSA Classic. I'm thinking about adding a 1/2 stop on the second string. I'm wondering what the installation might look like? Do I have to add a rod to the changer?
The guitar works and sounds excellent. I don't want to take it apart if I don't have to.

Thanks
Steve

Assuming you lower string 9 on that lever too, the most typical way is to use that change as a "feel" stop. On most guitars you can adjust the leverages such that string 2 reaches the D note simultaneously with string 9 lower engaging.

If you need a more positive feel you can add a mechanical half stop. Michael Yahl sells the typical mechanism here but it looks like he is out of stock right now. There are no additional rods to the changer needed, just an extra bell crank to push the mechanism. All it does is add some spring tension at a specified intermediate stop point with a tunable thumb screw. Tune the overall pull to C#, tune the thumbscrew to the D.
